LivingBuilding is a legacy Bukkit plugin that expands Minecraft’s placement rules, allowing blocks and items to be positioned where vanilla normally refuses them. It was designed to give builders more freedom on both creative and survival style servers, with configurable support for ladders, trapdoors, rails, flowers, saplings, cactus, sugar cane, signs, portals, fences, glass, ice, leaves, and more.

Its configuration lets administrators enable or disable individual behaviors, permit blocks on unusual surfaces, and adjust selected physics options. This makes it useful for experimental builds and decorative projects, although the original project is abandoned and tied to old Bukkit versions.
