Distant Ores, Sky Island

Distant Ores, Sky Island is a Minecraft datapack preset that adapts the Distant Ores mod to floating island terrain. Designed for sky island generation, it removes standard underground ore placement and creates ores throughout the islands, between Y 60 and Y 350. Coal and iron can still appear underground when terrain exists below the islands.

Ore availability also follows distance from the origin, making copper and iron accessible early while gold, redstone, lapis lazuli, and diamonds reward longer expeditions. Andesite generation adds useful support for Create gameplay. For a challenging exploration focused Minecraft server, our BoxToPlay team considers this preset a strong addition to sky based modpacks.
