BetterAnticheat is a lightweight Minecraft server plugin for Java Edition that complements, rather than replaces, a full anticheat solution. Its purpose is to detect niche cheats and unusual packet behavior that broader systems may overlook, including invalid combat actions, impossible positions, suspicious digging, abnormal block placement, chat automation, and malformed packets.

Designed for compatibility across Spigot, Paper, Folia, Sponge, and Velocity, it uses lag compensation, cookie packets, runtime command registration, and machine learning to assess combat trust. Most checks follow a zero buffer approach, aiming to reduce false positives. BoxToPlay presents it as a practical extra layer, though the project remains in early development and should be tested carefully.
