Origins: Synthomorph, the unstable shapeshifter

Origins: Synthomorph is a Java Edition Minecraft datapack for Minecraft 1.20.x that adds a shapeshifting Origin to the Origins mod. It requires Origins and Eggolib, while Pehkui is recommended. The Synthomorph has an incomplete genetic structure and must absorb DNA from suitable mob drops to temporarily create enhanced forms.

Each transformation brings distinctive powers and drawbacks, including fire resistance, explosions, flight, burrowing, shell protection, or Wither abilities. Forms gradually decompose, while remaining incomplete weakens the player and increases survival pressure. A small, translucent base body, the inability to wear armor or an elytra, and form specific vulnerabilities make every choice meaningful.
