Minecraft 1.21.9: The Copper Age
Version 1.21.9, nicknamed The Copper Age, is now available on BoxToPlay!
This electrifying update puts copper in the spotlight: a simple ore becomes the true star of Minecraft. With new mechanics, decorative blocks, and gameplay changes, this update will completely transform how you create, build, and light up your worlds.
The Copper Golem
The Copper Golem has arrived! This little robot is both handy and adorable. To summon it, simply place a carved pumpkin or a jack o’lantern on top of a copper block, no complicated crafting required.
Once alive, it roams around like a little loot-hungry vacuum, picking up items and automatically storing them in nearby chests. It can carry up to 16 stacks of items at once.
Over time, it oxidizes, and you can wax it to keep its bright orange shine or let it turn green naturally.
When it’s completely oxidized, it turns into a statue, frozen in a funny pose that makes great decoration.
A small bonus for Java players: Iron Golems can even offer a poppy to the Copper Golem. Create an entire copper golem squad for automatic and stylish item sorting!
Copper Chest & Smart Storage
And to go along with that, meet the Copper Chest!
This chest works perfectly with copper golems. Drop your items inside, and your golems will automatically sort and move them into matching chests nearby.
You can wax the chest to preserve its shiny orange color or let it age into a beautiful antique green.
Tip, golems always prefer already used chests, so keep your storage organized for maximum sorting efficiency.
Copper Gear: Arm Yourself with Style
Copper is no longer just for decoration, it is now a combat material. You can craft a complete set of gear:
swords, pickaxes, axes, hoes, shovels, and even horse armor.
In terms of strength, these tools sit between gold and iron, with higher enchantability than diamond but slightly lower than iron.
Their appearance evolves over time, they tarnish with use. You can wax them to keep their shine or let them oxidize naturally for a unique ancient look.
Decoration & Building: Oxidize Your World
Copper also becomes a major decorative element. It now reacts to the weather, thunderstorms can reset oxidation, creating impressive visual effects.
Here are the new decorative features:
- Copper bars and chains: perfect for fences, hanging lamps, or industrial-style builds.
- Copper lanterns: combine a torch with copper nuggets to get a warm, shifting glow.
- Copper trapdoors: crafted with 4 ingots, ideal for hiding secret passages.
- Shelves: a copper-wood design perfect for displaying your treasures.
- Copper Golem Statues: display a frozen, oxidized golem as a stylish decoration.
Fixes, Adjustments & Technical Updates
This update also brings a large number of technical improvements.
Performance has been optimized and 149 bugs have been fixed, from small cat-related glitches to mob cap issues.
But the most eye-catching part lies elsewhere.
The End has received a major visual overhaul. Every 30 seconds, the sky lights up with a bright purple flashlasting between 5 and 17 seconds.
This gives the dimension a much more dynamic atmosphere. The dragon’s fog slightly dims the light, creating an intense, cinematic mood during boss fights.
Perfect for adding a dramatic touch to your End builds or giving your Enderman farms a strobe-like flair!
Another cool addition, Mannequinsare silent entities you can summon with commands. They look like Steve or Alex and can bring your builds to life without needing real players.
Mannequins have 20 HP, can hold items, receive effects, and even wear custom skins.
You can give them names, hide certain layers for a stealth look, or freeze them in place for decoration.
They don’t drop any loot upon death, but hostile mobs will attack them, making them perfect for creating RP villages or ghost towns.
