ViaRewind, legacy client support for Minecraft servers

ViaRewind is a ViaVersion addon for Minecraft Java Edition servers. It translates network protocols so players using 1.7.x and 1.8.x clients can connect to servers running higher versions, extending compatibility without forcing everyone to use the same game release. Used alongside ViaVersion and, when needed, ViaBackwards, it helps preserve access to established PvP communities, classic mechanics, and older client setups.

For our BoxToPlay team, ViaRewind is a practical way to make a Minecraft server more accessible across generations. Some visual details or gameplay behaviors may differ because legacy clients cannot fully display newer features.

Select your version

Select the version of ViaRewind you want installed on your Minecraft server.

Check your cart

You go directly to your cart with the Minecraft plan and selected version of ViaRewind already included. Check that everything is correct before continuing.

Receive your server

Wait while your Minecraft server is built and delivered. Installation of your selected ViaRewind version starts during setup. Once it is ready, connect and have fun.
