Name Tag Craft, craftable name tags

Name Tag Craft is a Minecraft Java Edition datapack that adds a simple survival recipe for name tags in versions before 26.1. Combine one paper with one iron, gold, or copper nugget in any crafting arrangement to create a name tag, making it easier to identify pets, villagers, and other valuable mobs without relying on fishing, trading, or structure loot.

This lightweight gameplay improvement fits naturally into a vanilla style Minecraft server and is especially useful for multiplayer worlds focused on animal collections and personal bases. At BoxToPlay, we recommend it for older versions, while Minecraft 26.1 already includes the same crafting feature by default.
