A wave of new features for your Minecraft servers
We are continuing to improve the Minecraft experience at BoxToPlay. This new wave of improvements makes it easier to migrate an existing server, install datapacks and maps, and manage your services from a mobile device.
Move your server to BoxToPlay more easily
Do you already have a Minecraft server with another host? Our new import tool can retrieve its files in two ways:
- From the public URL of a ZIP archive containing the server files.
- Directly from your current hosting provider’s FTP server.
When both options are available, a ZIP link remains the fastest choice, especially for large maps made up of many small files. FTP import provides a practical alternative when your current host does not offer a directly downloadable archive.
You no longer need to download the entire server to your computer before uploading it again to BoxToPlay. You can get back to your worlds, plugins, mods and configuration more quickly.
Want to try BoxToPlay before making the move? Start a free Minecraft server for 12 hours, then import your current server from a ZIP link or directly from your hosting provider’s FTP server. You can experience our performance and panel with your usual worlds, plugins, mods and configuration.
Install your datapacks automatically
Datapacks use Minecraft’s native system to modify or extend the game’s data. They can add recipes, loot tables, functions, advancements, structures, world generation and challenges. They do not require Forge, NeoForge, Fabric or a plugin-compatible server. In most cases, everything runs on the server and players can connect with their usual Minecraft client.
The main difference between datapacks, plugins and mods is how deeply they integrate with the game:
- A plugin requires a compatible server such as Paper, Spigot or Purpur. Plugins are commonly used for administration tools, permissions, protection systems, commands, minigames and other server features.
- A mod loads additional code through Forge, NeoForge or Fabric. It can transform Minecraft more extensively by adding blocks, items, creatures, interfaces or new mechanics. Depending on the mod, players may also need to install it on their device.
- A datapack stays closer to Vanilla Minecraft. It uses features provided by the game without an external loader, making it particularly easy to deploy on a server.
Our new Minecraft CurseForge datapack catalogue now lets you browse available projects and install them automatically on your server from the panel.
Deploy a new map in just a few clicks
Want to discover a new adventure, a parkour course, a survival map or a ready-to-play world? Our catalogue gives you access to popular maps created and shared by the Minecraft community, with worlds for every style of play.
Browse our Minecraft CurseForge map catalogue, choose the world you want and install it automatically on your server. You can try several community creations and switch from one map to another with a single click, without downloading an archive, using FTP, importing folders or manually uploading any files.
Faster mobile apps
The BoxToPlay apps for iOS and Android have also been updated. These new versions improve performance and make managing your services from your smartphone smoother.
Download BoxToPlay from the App Store or Google Play to keep your services within reach.
All these new features share one goal: saving you time so you can focus on your community and your game. Create your Minecraft server at BoxToPlay and start using these improvements today.
