Realistic Torches makes Minecraft’s early survival more demanding by replacing permanent lighting with a temporary resource. This Forge mod for Minecraft Java Edition works on the client and server, creating unlit torches that must be ignited with a matchbox or flint and steel. Once lit, they burn for a configurable real time duration, sixty minutes by default, and rain can extinguish exposed torches.

Vanilla structure torches are also replaced, while glowstone based recipes provide permanent alternatives. The result is a darker, more strategic progression for challenging modpacks and a survival focused Minecraft server.
