Milky Way, a More Thoughtful Milking System

Milky Way is a Minecraft mod for Java Edition that adds a configurable cooldown whenever players collect resources from milkable mobs. Cows can no longer provide unlimited milk instantly, while mooshrooms need time before they can offer mushroom stew again. By default, standard bucket milking is available about twice per in game day, with separate timing for alternative resources.

Cooldowns cover buckets, bowls, and bottles, while entity tags let modpack creators define which creatures are affected. Optional particles show when a mob is not ready. On a Minecraft server managed with BoxToPlay, this small change encourages larger farms, better planning, and more varied food production. The mod supports Forge and NeoForge.
