Guarding, Enhanced Shield Combat

Guarding is a Fabric mod for Minecraft Java Edition that turns shields into a more active part of combat. It introduces timed parries that push attackers back, faster blocking inspired by Combat Test mechanics, and configurable options for adjusting the experience.

Two dedicated enchantments add further depth: Pummeling increases parry knockback, while Barbed lets a shield return damage like Thorns. The mod also adds a durable Netherite Shield with fire and knockback resistance, plus armor trims for customization. Designed for client and server use, Guarding brings more tactical defense to any Minecraft server, and BoxToPlay makes it easy to include in a modded adventure.
