Better Ladders is a Fabric mod for Minecraft Java Edition that changes the vanilla ladder’s placement behavior. Ladders can be positioned anywhere, even in midair, without requiring a supporting block behind them. This simple adjustment makes vertical construction more practical and opens new possibilities for towers, bridges, mines, decorative structures, and creative pathways.

When a support block is available, the ladder behaves like its vanilla counterpart and attaches to the surface. Without support, it faces the player’s direction, while removing nearby blocks no longer destroys attached ladders.
