NameTags is a classic Bukkit plugin that changes the name displayed above each player’s head on a Minecraft server. Using permission nodes, administrators can assign sixteen Minecraft colors, including red, gold, aqua, and white, along with formatting such as bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, or obfuscated text. Players may also receive a random color or format from the permissions they hold.
The plugin can optionally synchronize the display name in chat and the player’s name in the tab list, refresh tags automatically, define a default color, and control visibility between differently formatted players. NameTags requires TagAPI and targets older CraftBukkit releases. At BoxToPlay, we present it as a lightweight way to personalize a classic Minecraft server.
