DeathPenalty is a Bukkit plugin that gives death a stronger consequence by turning fallen players into ghosts instead of letting them immediately return to normal play. After dying, a player is sent to a configured ghost spawn, or their own spawn, and remains there for a defined period.
Ghosts cannot break blocks, fight, interact with containers, use commands, take damage, or be seen by ordinary players, although they can chat with other ghosts and permitted users. Administrators can configure lives, resurrection, flying, portals, cake based recovery, permanent ghosts, and temporary bans. Our BoxToPlay team recommends it for roleplay or hardcore style Minecraft server gameplay, while noting its original CraftBukkit 1.2.5 compatibility.
