BoxToPlay Updates: Custom Notification Center and Real-Time Alerts

Managing a Minecraft server, proxy, VPS, or TeamSpeak server means keeping track of what happens on it. A surge in player count, unexpected memory usage, a server outage, or a moderator logging in can easily go unnoticed. The new BoxToPlay Notification Center helps you spot these events and respond.

Directly accessible from your customer area at boxtoplay.com/notifications or through the shortcuts for your services in the panel, this centralized system enables you to set up smart alerts, monitor key operational indicators, and receive notifications on the channels you choose, wherever you are.

Tailored monitoring for your services

The Notification Center supports several BoxToPlay services:

  • Minecraft: Java servers (Paper, Purpur, Fabric, or NeoForge) and Bedrock (BDS, NukkitX).
  • Proxies: BungeeCord and Velocity networks.
  • Linux and Windows VPS servers: monitor the status and resources of your virtual machines.
  • TeamSpeak: voice channels and connected clients.

You can oversee all your alerts in one global overview or filter by server to fine-tune sensitivity according to each machine’s workload.

Event triggers tailored to your services

Depending on the selected service, you can create alerts from six event families:

  • Service startup: get notified when your service has finished starting.
  • Service shutdown: get alerted quickly if a server stops, restarts, or crashes, so you can take action without waiting for community messages.
  • Metric thresholds: choose a metric available for your service and set a threshold. Depending on the service, you can monitor CPU, memory, storage, network traffic, disk activity, player or client counts, and uptime.
  • Player or client connection: set an alert when any player joins the game, or target a specific username to know when a friend or staff member logs on.
  • Player or client disconnection: track general departures or follow when a specific player leaves.
  • Automatic task execution: on Minecraft, BungeeCord, and Velocity, get notified whether a task succeeded or failed after it runs.

Receive alerts everywhere: complete multi-channel coverage

Because an alert is only useful if it reaches you at the right time on the right device, BoxToPlay provides a comprehensive selection of delivery channels:

  • Browser push notifications (Web Push): receive native notifications on your computer (Windows, macOS, Linux) or Android device, even when the BoxToPlay panel is completely closed.

  • Mobile push notifications: receive instant alerts on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone through the BoxToPlay mobile app. Widgets and push alerts are covered in BoxToPlay Mobile V3: Widgets and Alerts for iOS and Android.

  • Discord: send the alert to your team’s Discord channel. You save a named webhook, then choose which channels should receive each rule. The full webhook address stays hidden after it is saved.

  • Slack: the same idea for Slack, with one named webhook per channel. A Discord address cannot be pasted there, and the Slack address also stays hidden after registration.

  • Inside the client panel: enjoy a dynamic badge in the top-right envelope icon, unobtrusive toast cards in the bottom-right corner while browsing the panel, or an instant center modal popup for urgent incidents requiring immediate intervention.

You can freely combine multiple channels for any single rule: for example, trigger a mobile push, a Discord alert, and an in-panel popup for a critical CPU spike.

Granular control and built-in spam protection

Receiving too many alerts defeats the purpose of alerting. That is why every rule includes advanced tuning options:

  • Cooldown between alerts: set a minimum delay (from 5 minutes up to 7 days) between consecutive notifications for the same rule. For metric rules, the alert only rearms once the condition is no longer true, preventing spam during temporary load oscillations.
  • Custom titles and messages: name rules according to your own structure (such as « Survival Server High CPU Alert ») and craft your own alert message so the situation is clear at a glance, whichever channel you choose.
  • One-click management: quickly toggle an alert on or off without deleting it, clone any existing rule to apply it to another server in seconds, or tweak thresholds anytime.

Complete history log and secure device management

The History tab lists alerts triggered on your account. Each record includes the exact timestamp, target service, triggered rule, and a severity color code (info, warning, or critical error). This allows you to reconstruct the timeline of an incident on your servers, even days later.

Finally, the Channels and devices tab lets you manage your notification methods. The Connected browsers and devices section lists your browsers, mobile devices, and saved Discord or Slack channels, along with their last delivery timestamps. You can disable a device, remove a webhook, or delete all your browsers in one click to protect your account.

The Notification Center is available for your Minecraft, BungeeCord, Velocity, VPS, and TeamSpeak services. Head over to your BoxToPlay client area to configure your first alerts and stay in complete control of your servers from anywhere.
