Food Effects is a Minecraft Java Edition datapack that gives familiar foods new or modified potion effects when eaten. It makes food choices more useful and adds extra strategy to survival, exploration, and combat on a Minecraft server. Rather than changing the food system completely, it builds on recognizable vanilla items and gives each selected food a distinct role.
Examples include Regeneration II from beetroot soup, Speed II from mushroom stew, Night Vision and Jump Boost from rabbit stew, Resistance II from golden apples, Luck from cookies, and Haste II from melon slices. Pufferfish grants Water Breathing but still causes Poison, while rotten flesh removes Poison without removing Hunger. At BoxToPlay, this datapack adds variety to everyday survival through a simple, server focused gameplay change.
