Very Many Players, or VMP, is a Forge optimization mod for Minecraft Java Edition servers that need to support high player counts. It improves general server performance while aiming to preserve vanilla functionality and gameplay behavior, making busy multiplayer environments smoother and more responsive.
Its optimizations target nearby player lookups, entity tracking, natural spawning, collisions, fluid and biome checks, chunk delivery, login loading, networking, and logging. VMP can run on the server, client, or both, and supports Minecraft 1.19.2, 1.19.4, and 1.20.1. We recommend it for performance focused setups at BoxToPlay, especially alongside Lithium, while noting that the project remains experimental.
