TagAPI is a Bukkit plugin API that lets other plugins modify the name displayed above a player’s head on a Minecraft server. Instead of offering gameplay features on its own, it provides a shared event system where developers intercept and change nametags for visual effects, roleplay identities, ranks, or disguises. TagAPI centralizes nametag handling so multiple plugins do not conflict when altering colors or custom names.
Although it is no longer actively updated for modern versions, many classic plugins still rely on its approach to control player tags. On our BoxToPlay infrastructure, this kind of API helps keep cosmetic features consistent across your serveur Minecraft.
