Cheaper Maps is a lightweight datapack for Minecraft Java Edition that simplifies map crafting. It replaces the usual compass in the empty map recipe with a cheaper dark ink ingredient, using eight paper and black dye, or an ink sac according to the recipe version. This lets players begin mapping their surroundings without first collecting iron and redstone, making early exploration smoother and more accessible.
