Frankenfish is a Minecraft Java datapack that gives lightning a surprising aquatic purpose. Drop a cod, salmon, tropical fish, or another supported fish item on the ground, then expose it to a lightning strike to transform it into a living fish mob. This playful mechanic turns ordinary fishing loot into aquarium companions and adds a memorable experiment to survival gameplay without changing the wider game loop.

The pack supports Minecraft 1.19.2 and 1.20.1, with compatibility for fish from several mods, including Aquaculture 2 and Alex’s Mobs. On a Minecraft server, BoxToPlay makes this quirky feature easy to enjoy with friends.
